Our Story

Opened in 1978 and currently operated by the beloved “Madam Jeong,” Mido Tea House has become more than just a tea house. It’s a cultural landmark in Daegu. Known as “the tea house of the beautiful city (美都),” it serves as a gathering place for politicians, artists, writers, and locals alike.In 2013, Mido Tea House found its permanent home in Jingolmok Alley, embracing its rich connection to Daegu’s famed Yakjeon-golmok (Herbal Medicine Alley). Using only authentic, high-quality medicinal herbs sourced from Daegu’s historic Yakryeong Market, Mido Tea House's teas reflect the depth and tradition of the area.The walls of the tea house are adorned with paintings and writings left by visiting artists and writers, including Daegu’s legendary poet Jeon Sang-yeol, who wrote the iconic poem Mido Dahyang just before his passing.

Hosting charity events like Dongji Day’s patjuk (red bean porridge) festival, providing scholarships, and supporting senior citizens, the tea house remains deeply rooted in Daegu’s local culture.
